Innovative Leader/ Shan Hui Industrial: The Invincible Cutting Board Taking the World by Storm

Shan Hui Industrial, with its 34-year history, is now witnessing a story of bold innovation by its second generation. The passionate new generation is eagerly embracing new technologies and has achieved impressive annual revenue of 300 million NT dollars solely from cutting boards. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, by the end of 2012, Taiwan had over 1.3 million small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

On average, nearly eight out of every ten office workers in Taiwan are employed by SMEs.

Looking back to the 1970s, a surge of Taiwanese SMEs thrived amidst the wave of economic takeoff.

However, starting from the 1990s, these enterprises began facing external pressures such as talent acquisition, wage increases, and international competition. Internally, they couldn't avoid the challenges of upgrading from OEM to original design manufacturing and succession by the second generation. In the past, flexibility and speed allowed many Taiwanese SMEs to achieve the status of "hidden champions" on the international stage.

But now, the skills that once set them apart are no longer sufficient. A silent revolution is brewing within Taiwan's SME sector—a vital corporate reformation that determines their survival is underway. In this sweeping transformation, innovation is the key.

Located in Pitou, Shan Hui Industrial is unfolding a story of bold innovation by its second generation.
